Explaining the hiatus in articles and posts here –

Explaining the hiatusThis post today aims in Explaining the hiatus in my articles and thoughts here. Many of you may be wondering why the site suddenly went static and stopped moving some 6-8 months ago. The truth is that it was hacked. Not this site but another sub-domain that was parked inside the same web host account of this one and it took a lot of time to clean up and re-host that site on a dedicated web-space of its own, to prevent any similar collisions in future.

Then after that was taken care of we decided to revamp the looks of our site and this was done assuming that it would be a breeze! Nothing could have been further than the truth. It took some inordinate amount of time to configure properly and to compound our problems it we had exams to contend with.

Explaining the hiatusSometimes we felt that this was passe what with our priorities looming large and our passion getting a hit on account of being torn in the urgent-and-important-quadrant of priorities. However we sat tight and waited till everything settled down to a minimum.

Our lessons:

  • When intuition is strong, doors open automatically. Keeping a balanced mind amidst problems will sometimes just be enough. There is nothing you can do about things beyond your control. If the flame of passion is strong you will eventually find a way to do it. If it is positive it is a good thing. If not, God bless you…!
  • Always give priority to long term commitments. And do not plan anything that is long term, without a really long and hard think about it. If you are confused ask friends. Never beats getting friendly advice. Human mind is frail and weak. It will succumb easily to temptations and distractions. If that is the case I suggest not taking up anything that will demand a long dedicated effort on your part.

Anyways, the end result is that we are back, and we are good! We are rarin’ to go and to start updating you with the latest in the world of chess, as and when they happen!

8 Year old CEO woos security experts in Delhi, and how!

8 Year old CEO Reuben Paul8 year old CEO woos security experts with wit and aplomb. Barely out of his milk teeth, this kid knows what it is like to be a CEO and also has his head clear on what he wants to become. No wonder he was invited to speak at the Ground zero summit in Delhi in November.

And since he could not reach for the Mic he was made to sit on a chair thereby being aptly named as the ‘Chair person’ of the event! Meet Reuben Abhishai Paul – Cyber Security expert and CEO of his gaming company called Prudent Games.

His other interests are Kung Fu, Gymnastics, Swimming and Music.

His company creates educational apps for children, combining knowledge and fun in a way that keeps children interested and involved. One of the applications by Prudent Games teaches children how to create strong and secured passwords. Another application teaches the basics of Brute Force technique to children, which is a popular method of hacking.

His presentation, titled: “Developing ROOt-Kidz: The future of Cyber Security” was about the importance of cyber security, and why parents should learn to implement and teach their children basic cyber security paradigms for keeping their computers and laptops safe.

Demonstrating his skills and knowledge, he displayed to the the audience how easy it is to hack into any website or computer using ‘click jacking’ and ‘Java applet’ attacks.

Later, fielding questions from the media like a pro, Reuben explained that it all started a year-and-a-half ago.”My father trains people in the area of software development and cyber security, and I used to be listening in and one day when he was on a business call and seemed to have forgotten some terms, and I prompted him from back. He then began training me.”

But there’s much more to Reuben than gaming or cyber security – at the age of two, he was crowned America’s ‘Most Beautiful Baby’. ‘RAPster’, as his friends call him, because his name forms the acronym RAP.

At 4 years - youngest Indian chess player

At the age where kids grapple with numbers and alphabets, this three-year-old Sparsh Bisht is mastering the moves over the chess board. Still in his pre-nursery (pre-KG), Sparsh took to the game four months back and has started to achieve success against players double his age. Playing his first tournament, Sparsh won three matches in seven rounds and was placed 37th out of 62 participants. At 4 years – youngest Indian chess player or maybe in the World, deserves a standing ovation.

He was the youngest participant in the U-9 category. He was the recipient of trophy for the youngest participant. A resident of Gurgoan, Sparsh’s parents want to see him as the world’s youngest rated chess players. His father R S Bisht is Sr. Asstt. Engineer in HR-Admin Dept, Powergrid Corporation of India Ltd, Gurgaon.

This dream achievement was possible by the dedicated efforts of his parents. Born in May 2009, Sparsh is the youngest chess player in Gurgaon, who has already participated in National level tournaments, State and District championships. “He started playing in the year 2012 in November, when he was three years and ten months old,” said Sparsh’s mother, Preeti Bisht.

Chess talent, like a mathematical or musical ability, shows up early on life, and once identified has to be carefully cultivated. Call it Karma or genes or mere chance of nature, it was a case of catching them young! In Sparsh’s case, it was his father Rajendra Bisht, an engineer in Gurgaon, who became his first inspiration as an early chess pal. “I was down with knee injury and was spending a lot of time playing chess on the laptop. And I could see that the game interested Sparsh a lot.” Bisht said.

Here is a video of the young star in action:

I wish him all the very best in his chess and real world endeavors. He is our inspiration. He may be a toddler but his sights are far higher than adults!

Kindly share this as much as you can. He deserves our adoration.

How did Golden Chess Centre start?

Warm welcome to all students of Chess Golden Chess Centre was set up in the Summer of 2004-05. We had a warm welcome from the students, gaining members from different backgrounds and even outside India.

We conducted chess meetings from our apartment initially, where the word spread, and people from faraway Kerala would come for spending chess quality time!

In the Pic is our respected Mr Venkataraman from Mananthawadi a place in Wayanad district in Kerala (affectionately referred to as Kerala Uncle).

We aim to give a platform to Chess kids and adults where they can both play and learn chess thereby making learning a fun event.

We cater to players of all levels from absolute beginners to advanced competitors.

We are stacked up on chess boards, clocks, and chess books for every session.

We host a Chess Blitz Tournament frequently, in addition to training classes.

We conduct separate classes for Pre-Beginners, Beginners, Intermediate and Advanced level Chess players and motivate the young children with prizes.

All students are asked to report their daily chess activities via SMS or WhatsApp.

We have great pleasure in inviting you to join us in our journey – a quest towards chess perfection.

We have a few ideas that we would like to share and hope you would find this site a good source of reference in your Chess Study, for a long time to come.

Feel free to browse the blog section and read the articles.

Warm welcome to all students of Chess

A View of the academy

Golden Chess Centre | Class Structure

The first set of chess classes are spent on the introduction and learning the history and basic rules of chess.

As we progress, advanced strategies for the opening, middle, and end game will be introduced and trained with an emphasis on worksheets and practice.

Students will thereafter have the opportunity to participate in Internal academy chess tournaments.

Entering a starter-level kids chess tournament can be daunting for the first time, and we are here to help your child become a chess pro.

Our trainees experience the thrill of simulated tournament play supervised by an experienced chess coach.

A player’s advance in chess will likely pay returns by a lifetime of rewarding chess games.

Why Chess?

Competitive chess helps in fostering serious study, but tournament play isn’t the only reward. Young upcoming players may not be the best in their school chess tournament. But they will be getting ready for the next game against her father.

Many chess players consistently fancied solving chess puzzles to competing for over-the-board play. Some players relished solving chess puzzles and keep getting perennial joy in solving seemingly difficult chess studies.

The study of chess can be appealing and fulfilling in itself, and not every student trains to be a player in a tournament scenario.

A warm welcome to all students of Chess – drop in!
